It’s very important to take care of your teeth. By catching tooth decay early, minimal damage can usually be repaired and the tooth can be saved. Delaying treatment can cause serious damage and may require an extraction.
Dr. Maria Ana Marcelo, and she will work with you and recommend treatment based on the amount of damage to your teeth. She believes in a personal approach to treatment and will always discuss whatever options are available to you before proceeding.
Dr. Maria Ana Marcelo and her team can perform a wide range of dental restorations, including everything fillings to crowns.
When plaque dissolves through the enamel of a tooth it makes a tiny cavity. A simple filling is usually the easiest solution to this problem. By removing the decayed portion of your tooth and filling the space with metal, acrylic or porcelain, we are able to minimize the damage and restore your tooth.
If your tooth already has a large amount of decay or contains several fillings, your best option may be a crown. A crown protects the tooth by “capping” it and keeping it strong. They can be made of gold, porcelain fused to metal or pure white porcelain (which closer resembles a natural tooth).
If tooth decay has progressed and damaged the nerve of your tooth, you may require a root canal. Root canals are when the damaged nerve is removed the space is filled with a new material. This allows you to keep your natural tooth. However, since the nerve is longer able to provide a blood supply, you may also require a crown over the tooth to protect it.
When a tooth is badly decayed, we may suggest having it removed and giving you a bridge. A bridge uses the adjacent teeth as supports for an artificial tooth in between.
